Simple Tips On How To Fight COVID-19

Taking the definition of Wikipedia, Coronavirus Disease 2019 or popularly known as COVID-19, is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Its most common symptoms are fever, dry cough, dry throat, short of breath and loss of taste and smell. Basically, it is similar to flu but more dangerous as it has claimed thousands of lives and infected millions of people all around the world reaching the status of a pandemic.

In the past 3 months, millions of people are already affected by this pandemic --- rich or poor, no one is exempted. The virus has disrupted the lives of the people in the modern era and introduced a new way of living called 'the new normal'. Experts said that we will never go back to the old normal unless a vaccine is successfully created. Therefore, it is very important to know how to fight this virus while cautiously waiting for the vaccine. Below are some of the basic yet very helpful tips to fight COVID-19 while learning to live with it in this so-called 'new normal':

1. Drinking Citrus Juice That Are Rich In Vitamin-C

Since COVID-19 is flu-like, we need to boost our immune system by taking a natural vitamin-C, like lemon and calamansi. One of the best way to consume these fruits is by making a delicious juice out from it. Here's a simple guide on how to prepare it:
    1. Squeeze 1 lemon or 8pcs of calamansi (equivalent to 1 lemon) in a glass.
    2. Add some lukewarm water.
    3. Add 1-2 tsp. of sugar (depending on how sweet you want it to be) or a spoonful of honey.
    4. You may also want to add ginger if you want a bit of menthol flavor.



2. Breathing Exercise For A Healthy Lungs

Some COVID-19 survivors said that they were able to recover through a simple quick breathing/lung exercise as it helps loosen up your lungs. By doing the exercise daily, it will strengthen the muscles of our chest walls. This youtube video is very helpful ìn getting you started doing the breathing exercise properly.

3. Getting Enough Sleep

Medical experts around the world all agree that one of the things that will help us boost our immune system is to have enough sleep as our body needs to regenerate after a whole day activity. We need at least 8 hours of sleep so we can fully gain our energy.



4. Frequent Washing of hands

Of course, this will not be left out. Since the pandemic started, we are always reminded to always wash our hands at least 20 seconds or you can sing Happy Birthday while washing your hands. If you want it to be more fun, you can also sing some parts of your favorite song (the longer you’re washing your hands, the more the virus dies).

If you will not be able to wash your hands because you’re nowhere near a washing area, just make sure to sanitize your hands with an alcohol or hand sanitizer. Studies show that coronaviruses can survive on surfaces for a few hours up to several days depending on varied conditions (e.g. type of surface, temperature or humidity of the environment). –www.doh.gov.ph Therefore, we just need to get used to washing or sanitizing our hands more frequently than before.

5. Mask is a must

One of the “new normal” in our lives is wearing a mask whenever we go out as the virus spread through small droplets from coughing, sneezing or talking between two people or more. The reason social distancing is important nowadays to prevent close contact from other people. So, in this new normal, wearing a mask is a must.
