ABS-CBN TV Plus is a digital signal TV box that is exclusively distributed by the Kapamilya network. The box is capturing digital signal and offers free-to-air channels that are broadcasting on digital platform. ABS-CBN TV Plus is sold at Php1,499 but I bought mine at Php1,299 price in Lazada.
Having an ABS-CBN TV plus is a great way of improving the quality of your signal in viewing free-to-air channels that are already broadcasting a digital signals like the Kapamilya Network (ABS-CBN) and the Kapuso Network (GMA-7).
Unlike the analog signals which are viewed via traditional antennas, ABS-CBN TV plus is capturing a signal that is less likely disrupted by some form of electrical waves created by other devices in our home like cellphones, electric current flowing to our refrigerators, washing machines among others. This will give viewers the clearest display shown in our televisions via digital signal.
Aside from that, ABS-CBN TV plus also offers more channels that are broadcasted exclusively by ABS-CBN. This means that these channels will be available only through the TV Plus. Most of these channels are free like the Jeepey TV, Movie Central and Kapamilya Box Office (KBO).
In terms of payment or billing, having a TV Plus at home is not like having a cable subscription as you only have to pay ONE TIME for the device. There is NO monthly payment like Cignal or Sky cable.
You only have to buy the digital box then plug it to your television and start enjoying the different shows offered by ABS-CBN. Though, ABS-CBN offers channel where you need to pay, you can always not subscribe to it and continur viewing other free channels like Yey, Cinemo and Jeepney TV.
However, having this device is not all win. There are some disadvantages as well, and its up to you to decide if the disadvantages outweighs the advantages. As for me, I really did not regret buying this device.
One disadvantage of the having this device is that it does not show all free-to-air channels in the country. I noticed there is no TV 5. The reason that I heard about this is that TV-5 is not yet broadcasting on digital signal. I do not know if this is true or is this is just something I need to do to capture the TV 5 channel. I tried re-scanning the device and still TV 5 is not found.
Also, there were times that GMA-7's signal got lost, you need to re-scan it so you can stabilize and find the Kapuso network. But lately, this seemed to be fixed already as I no longer experienced this again for quite some time now.
Other than those disadvantages I mentioned in using this device all you can get are good receptions from free-to-air channel specially ABS-CBN channel 2 (channel 3 in Cebu and different channel number in other regions). ABS-CBN channel is often encountering interference in analog signal and with TV plus, this interference will be totally eliminated.
ABS-CBN TV plus can be bought in some stores usually found in mall's cyberzone and those stores that are selling electronic devices. As to my TV Plus, I bought it from Lazada (this is a referral link) at Php1,299.
Be careful in buying as some only sold with hdmi cable only. If your TV supported hdmi then you need to buy the tv plus with hdmi cable. I originally intended buying tv plus for my old CRT TV, this means it does not support hdmi cable. I expected, it will have the RCA cable but unfortunately the tv plus I bought did not come with it.
I went to different malls looking for that RCA cable that can connect my TV plus to my CRT TV but I did not found any. The RCA cable needed for this is the type where the other end has three male connector colored red, white and yellow while the other end is like a black connector that is the same as our headphone connector.
I did not know what exactly the name of this cable but it is really hard to find. So better ask your seller in advance if the TV plus they are selling supports CRT only, HDMI only or both. If they said it supports both, then ask them if the cables are included for both TV type (RCA and HDMI cable).
